Hosted by Neil and Jane
A wonderful, uniquely designed ‘house on wheels’, beautifully appointed, offering the perfect romantic retreat, with one loft style bedroom. Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the Naviho is nestled in a wildlife garden, on a hill overlooking the village of Semley. It is within easy walking distance to the charming villages of Donhead St Andrew and St Mary, and quintessentially English village pubs where you can enjoy good food, tipples and perhaps a game of Pétanque! Here you will find, peace, calm and luxury with easy access to the wider world. Tisbury railway station being just ten minutes away, and easy access to the major road network.
The space: Open plan with high cathedral ceilings, large windows and gothic shaped feature windows drawing in the beautiful environs. Bamboo flooring throughout. One bedroom, with comfortable double bed (memory foam mattress, choice of pillows and high quality bed linen). Luxury shower room, with Egyptian cotton towels and organic toiletries provided. Fully equipped kitchen area, including oven, induction hob, dishwasher and washing machine. Comfortable dining and seating area with flat screen TV. Additional reading room, ‘wildlife observatory and sunset gazing platform’, with comfy floor cushions and library of books, accessed via wooden ladder. WiFi enabled via high speed fibre to the premises.
Outside: Private deck and garden area with access to the wider wildlife garden surrounding it. Here countless wildflowers flourish during the summer months. It is a haven for birds, bees butterflies, and other insects, and a sanctuary for mammals, including human beings retreating from the wider, busier world.
Private access and secure parking adjacent to the property.
Interaction with guests: We live here, will greet you on arrival and be on hand for anything that you may require during your stay, whilst respecting and valuing your privacy. We are also happy to share our wildlife garden in more depth should guests have a particular interest in what has been accomplished here, successfully ‘re-wilding’ once intensively farmed land. Jane is an accomplished fine artist, inspired by the natural world, indeed, Madrigal is also, by design, an artists garden; her source of inspiration and expression of imagination, including a Fairy House, or Sidhe, hidden beneath a hill. Not all ‘places to stay’ can boast fairies living at the bottom of the garden! She is happy to share insight into her work should guests have a particular interest and occasionally offers courses and mentoring sessions.
The neighbourhood: A haven for walkers and wildlife, stepping out from here there are countless walks, from a 30 minute stroll to a hike to the Cathedral City of Salisbury along the Ridgeway.
The historic hill top town of Shaftesbury is just five miles away, Old Wardour Castle, four miles distant and the Palladian mansion of Stourhead thirteen. Beyond the immediate locale, Stonhenge, the historical cities of Salisbury and Bath are within comfortable driving distance, as is the Jurassic coast for a day at the seaside!
No pets please and strictly no smoking.
